Board discusses superintendent selection process

GOLDSBORO — At a special called meeting of the Wayne County Board of Education Dec. 14, board attorney Richard Schwartz provided a board training to assist the members in their superintendent selection process.

Schwartz shared strategies as part of the recruitment process to help attract and recruit the highest quality candidates. He also walked the board through various options for how it can lead a superintendent search process. He then presented proposals from various professional companies and the North Carolina School Boards Association in the event the board chooses to use a consultant as part of its superintendent selection process.

After some discussion, the board agreed to meet again after the holidays to allow members time to review the proposals before determining any next steps with its superintendent selection process.

The Board then approved a student transfer report and adjourned.
