Triggs competes in pentathlon at Roanoke

SALEM, Va. – Junior Tylyia Triggs competed in the pentathlon on Dec. 10 at the Bast Cregger-Multi Invitational hosted by Roanoke College and hit a pair of league qualifying marks.

Triggs placed ninth in the pentathlon with 2,185 points over five events, while registering a top-three finish in the 60-meter hurdles. A total of 10 entries from six schools, including one unattached individual, competed in the pentathlon.

A product of Garner, Triggs posted the best time in Conference Carolinas this season in the 60-meter hurdles behind a personal record of 9.467 seconds to place third and hit a league qualifying mark. She also moved into sixth all-time at UMO in the event. Triggs posted a distance of 16 feet, 8 3/4 inches in the long jump to finish fifth overall to set another personal best and reach a conference standard. Her mark in the long jump currently ranks fifth in the league this year.

Triggs also cleared 4 feet, 3 1/4 inches in the high jump, while crossing the line in 2:58.96 in the 800 meters to set another personal record.
