Three Trojans named to All-Tournament Team

MOUNT OLIVE – University of Mount Olive sophomore Celine de Witte, freshman Nikki Bos and freshman Jente Ogterop were all selected to the All-Tournament Team following the conclusion of the South Atlantic Conference field hockey championship on Nov. 20.

The trio of players helped the Trojans advance to the conference finals for the first time in program history. UMO entered the postseason as the No. 1 seed from the Piedmont Division after completing the regular season undefeated. Mount Olive earned a comeback 2-1 victory over Newberry in double-overtime on Friday, Nov. 18 before suffering a 2-1 loss in overtime against Converse in the title game on Sunday, Nov. 20.

Bos tallied two assists at the league tournament, including the game-winning pass to teammate Morgan Paterson to defeat the Wolves in the semifinals. De Witte and Ogterop assisted the UMO defense into forcing multiple turnovers and limiting scoring chances between both games. Both defenders played the entire match in both overtime contests.

Under fourth-year head coach Daan Polders, the Trojans finished the season with a 14-4 overall record and set the single-season mark for wins while advancing to their first-ever league final.
