Trojans compete at NCAA Regional Championships

WINGATE – The University of Mount Olive women’s cross country team featured three individual runners in the field on Nov. 19 while competing at the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships hosted by Wingate.

Wingate claimed the regional title with 46 points behind five runners in the top 15 overall. Anderson (S.C.) placed second overall in the 19-team field, while Catawba finished in third place after featuring the individual champion.

Freshman Ciara Sulton led the team and placed 60th overall with a time of 24 minutes, 19.01 seconds. A native of Fayetteville, Ga., Sulton paced the program in all six races this season while earning All-Conference Carolinas Second-Team honors.

Sophomore Celine Fleurilus finished in 75th place with a time of 24:52.15, while freshman Natalie Baldwin crossed the line with a time of 26:41.27 to place 117th overall.

Catawba freshman Madison Clay secured the individual regional crown by nearly 11 seconds with a time of 21:35.71.
