Stone named to all-tournament team

MOUNT OLIVE – After pacing the team in kills over two matches, University of Mount Olive sophomore outside hitter Ashlyn Stone was selected to the Conference Carolinas All-Tournament Team for women’s volleyball.

Over two matches at the league tournament, Stone 29 kills in seven sets played. She tied the game-high with 17 kills and added two blocks in a 3-1 win over King in the quarterfinals on Friday. The following day, Stone registered 12 kills with three digs in a 3-0 loss versus Emmanuel in the semifinals.

A native of Rougemont, Stone ranked second on the team with 246 kills after totaling double-digit kills in 12 matches this season.

Under third-year head coach Emma Celentano, the Trojans claimed their first regular season title and 20-win campaign since 2005 after advancing to the semifinals of the conference tournament behind a 23-9 overall record with a 15-2 mark in league play.
