Mount Olive drops to No. 9 in NFHCA poll

MOUNT OLIVE – Despite concluding the regular season undefeated in conference play, the University of Mount Olive field hockey team dropped two positions to No. 9 in the Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division II National Coaches Poll, which was announced Nov. 15.

The Trojans enter the conference tournament on a 13-game winning streak following a 7-0 shutout win over Coker. Mount Olive claimed its first-ever Piedmont Division Championship and the No. 1 seed in the postseason, which begins Friday, Nov. 18 in Spartanburg, S.C.

Kutztown kept the top spot in the poll with 14 first place votes after finishing the regular season on a 10-game winning streak. Shippensburg remained second in the rankings with a pair of first-place votes while East Stroudsburg dropped one slot to third overall. West Chester continued to sit fourth after receiving the final two first-place votes and Millersville rounded out the top five in the rankings.

The SAC features two teams in the top 10 rankings this week, as Converse remained No. 8 after going 1-1 last week with a 3-2 loss to No. 2 ranked Shippensburg.
