Moerkerken is SAC Defensive Player of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (Nov. 15) – After delivering an assist and a shutout performance, University of Mount Olive sophomore defender Annefleur Moerkerken was named the Defensive Player of the Week from the South Atlantic Conference on Nov. 15.

A native of Driebergen, Netherlands, Moerkerken registered an assist and aided the UMO defense to a 7-0 shutout win over Coker. She was a force in the defensive midfield and shutout down multiple attacking opportunities. Moerkerken delivered an exceptional through ball to teammate Nikki Bos in the 11th minute to increase the UMO lead. Mount Olive finished the regular season undefeated in conference play and earned its first-ever Piedmont Division regular season title.

Moerkerken has tallied eight points behind two goals and four assists while starting all 16 matches this year. She joins three other teammates this season in garnering the defensive accolade from the league.
