UMO women’s wrestling wins first-ever dual meet

HARROGATE, Tenn. (Nov. 12) – In their first-ever dual meet in program history, the Trojans posted a 33-5 win over Lincoln Memorial on Nov. 12 after seven different wrestlers secured individual victories.
The University of Mount Olive women’s opened its inaugural season last Saturday at the Trojan Open. Meanwhile, the Railsplitters are also competing in their first season in women’s wrestling.
The event only featured two head-to-head matches between the sides while the Trojans registered six wins via forfeit. Lincoln Memorial was able to feature two individuals for competition at 116 and 143.
LMU sophomore Ashley Morris came out on top in the 116 weight class after winning by fall over freshman Jillian Timberlake to tally five points. At 143, fellow freshman Skyelar Smith outscored her opponent sophomore Stephanie Castro by a 6-2 decision to grab three points for her team.
The six forfeits resulted in five points per weight class, while a no contest was registered in the 109 and 136 weight classes.
