Trojans cruise past Lincoln Memorial

HARROGATE, Tenn. – Behind four wins via decision, the Trojans opened South Atlantic Conference Carolinas action with a 40-6 win over Lincoln Memorial on Nov. 12.

The Trojans put together another impressive performance over the weekend after beginning the 2022-23 campaign with 10 podium finishers at the Pembroke Classic.

Freshman Jeffrey Richards continued his strong start to his collegiate career after securing a victory by fall against Andrew Overbay at 133 to total five points toward the team score. Last week, he boasted a perfect 5-0 record in the individual tournament at UNCP and claimed the title in his weight class.

Redshirt freshman Taylor Robinson (141) recorded a 5-3 win via decision over Kade Millsaps before teammate Dallas Wilson added four points behind a victory by 16-1 technical fall over Graham Rocha in the 149 weight class. Redshirt junior Michael Vernagallo (157) also notched a win by decision, 8-7, to tally three points.

Sophomore Jake Nicolosi made his season debut for the Trojans after advancing to the NCAA National Championships last season. A native of Haverhill, Mass., he delivered a dominant appearance and achieved max points with a victory by fall versus Nicholas Krauss. Redshirt freshman Seth Thomas also prevailed by a significant 16-0 margin to earn a win by technical fall.

Sophomore Trent Walker and redshirt sophomore Devin McCorkle each earned wins for UMO by forfeit.
