UMO features eight on all-conference women’s soccer teams

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Sophomore forward Delia Allwood and senior defender Jaclyn Gott were selected to the Conference Carolinas First-Team as chosen by the league’s head coaches on Nov. 1, as the Trojans featured eight all-conference honorees.

Allwood led the team with 24 points behind 11 goals and two assists while starting 15 games. She ranked second in the conference in goals scored while finishing third in total points and shots per game (3.44). Allwood, a high-speed forward, battled injury throughout the year but closed the regular season with her first-career hat trick against Lees-McRae to clinch a share of the Conference Carolinas regular season title. She earned all-conference for the first time in her career at Mount Olive.

Gott was chosen to the all-conference team for the third time in her career, while garnering first-team status for the first time. Gott secured the central defense for the Trojans along the backline and was one of two players to start all 17 games this season. She assisted the team to seven shutout performances while adding three assists this year.

The UMO recipients on the all-conference second-team included sophomore forward Tianna Hill senior midfielder Maelwynn Gaiffas, junior midfielder Amanda McLeod and senior defender Samantha Hamrick. The Trojans also featured two honorees on the third-team in senior midfielder Ashley Lindsay and freshman midfielder Addison Dangler.

A 5-foot-9 sophomore, Hill ranked second on the team with 22 total points on eight goals and six assists in 13 starts. She tied for second in assists and fourth in points in the conference, while leading the league in shot accuracy (.689). Hill featured a breakout season alongside Allwood and tallied three multi-goal performances, including a hat-trick against Erskine.

Gaiffas performed in all 17 matches with 16 starts after finishing the season fourth on the team in points. She tallied four goals and two assists, including two scores off penalty kicks. She tied for third in the conference with three game-winning goals this season.

McLeod garnered all-conference accolades for the second time in her career after being a vital player in the midfield. She totaled seven points on two goals and three assists in 16 starts.

Hamrick was named to the all-conference teams for the first time in her career after starting all 17 matches on the backline. She was a crucial piece in the UMO defense this season that totaled seven shutouts, including five-straight in league action. She logged the most minutes on the team while playing all 90 minutes in 13 contests.

Lindsay received all-conference for the fourth time after being featured in 16 games with 14 starts this year. She brought strength and stature to the midfield while totaling over 1,000 minutes played and one goal.

Dangler was one of the top freshmen in the Conference Carolinas this season and registered 13 points on five goals and three assists. She closed out the regular season with eight points, including a goal and an assist in the title clinching match versus Lees-McRae. Dangler played in 14 games this season and came primarily off the bench with just five starts.
