UMO features 26 recipients for Academic All-Conference

MOUNT OLIVE – A total of 26 University of Mount Olive student-athletes, representing five fall sports, recently were named to the Conference Carolinas Fall Academic All-Conference teams.

The Conference Carolinas Academic All-Conference teams consist of junior and senior student-athletes in the conference who have competed in a conference-sponsored sport and maintained a cumulative grade-point average of 3.25 or higher on a 4.0 scale in all work completed at their member institution.

The UMO student-athletes were part of nearly 300 honorees from the Conference Carolinas. Mount Olive was one of seven schools to feature at least 25 student-athletes on the academic list.

The GPA is calculated based on the cumulative averages of the student-athletes through the previous semester and each student-athlete must have attended their member institution for at least one academic year.

Making Academic All-Conference from UMO were:

• From men’s soccer, Nathaniel Bierly of West Chicago, Ill.; Mattia Marci of Castelfranco Emilia, Italy and Ashton Olmstead of Garner.

• From women’s cross country, Jacqueline Thring of Adelaide, Australia.

• From men’s soccer, Will Doyen of Apex, Nathan Esslinger of Hassloch, Germany; Pedro Franca of Sorocaba, Brazil; Walter Gomez of Charlotte, Daniel Miller of Zebulon and Ethan Willie of Nassau, Bahamas.

• From women’s soccer, Toni Brem of West Chester, Pa.; Makenna Copley of Manheim, Pa.; Samantha Hamrick of Collingswood, N.J.; Justiss Hunter of Clemmons, Mikaela Lawler of Houston, Texas; Amanda McLeod of Planfield, N.J. and Nicole Solicito of Benson.

• From volleyball, Madison Goodman of Ewa Beach, Hawaii; Faith Herman of Maiden, Makenzie Holzer of Clayton, Camryn Huber of Buies Creek, Jenna Myer of Clayton, Nafsika Papvasileiou of Athens, Greece; Morgan Prots of Whispering Pines, Starr Sergent of Mililani, Hawaii and Ele’sia Williams of Raleigh.
