Trojans finish fall women’s golf season in Florida

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Playing in a deep field in their final competition of the fall season, the Trojans closed play in Florida on Tuesday by finishing in a tie of 15th place at the Flagler Fall Slam.

The University of Mount Olive women’s golf team posted a 70-over 646 (333-313) while playing the par-72 Marsh Creek Country Club course. The host Saints earned the tournament title by six strokes with an 18-over 594 (303-291) and posted the lowest team score in the final round. Nova Southeastern finished second in the team standings with a 24-over 600 (303-297) and Daytona State College placed third overall at the 18-team event with a 26-over 602 (306-296).

Senior Elise Davies paced the team and tied for 21st overall on the individual leaderboard with a 10-over 154 (81-73). She fired a career-low 73 on the final day after totaling three birdies, including back-to-back on the front nine. She led the team in scoring for the first time this season and tallied 23 combined pars over the two-day event.

Fellow senior Emma Leclercq shot a 19-over 163 (82-81) to tie for 64th place. She was one of four players in the field to card an eagle in the tournament, which she scored on the par-5 third. Junior Victoria Morelli carded a 20-over 164 (84-80) to tie for 70th overall after tallying two birdies and 18 pars. Senior Grace Olmstead tied for 75th place with a 21-over 165 (86-79), while freshman Nele Halbach rounded out the team scorers with a 26-over 170 (86-84) to tie for 82nd overall.

As an individual, freshman Violette Daudin registered a 58-over 202 (96-106) to finish in 96th place in her collegiate debut.

Freshman Stella Jelinek of Flagler won the individual medalist honors by three strokes after firing a two-under 142 (72-70).
