Schuurman is Offensive Player of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. – After scoring a pair of game-winning goals, University of Mount Olive freshman Jule Schuurman was named the Offensive Player of the Week from the South Atlantic Conference on Tuesday morning.

A freshman from Krefeld, Germany, Schuurman finished with four points on two game-winning goals, as she contributed to Mount Olive posting a 3-0 record in conference play. She scored the eventual game-winning goal in a 5-1 victory over Limestone on the road Oct. 21. Over the weekend, Schuurman delivered the game-winning goal in the first quarter on Oct. 22, as UMO upset No. 6 Converse by a 2-1 margin. With that result, the Trojans recorded their highest-ranked win in program history.

Schuurman ranks fourth on the team this season with 12 points and four goals while ranking second with four assists in 11 matches played. She earned the weekly honor for the first time in her career and becomes the third Mount Olive player to earn offensive conference recognition in 2022.

The Trojans are currently on a nine-game winning streak, the longest in program history, while already eclipsing the program mark for most victories in a single season. UMO ranks among the top 10 nationally in Division II with 3.33 goals per game and 2.42 assists per game, while ranking first in the country with a .214 shot percentage.
